MordeTwi – A Wish That Could Be Used Right Now

Do you miss how life was in the early 2010s? Well, this viral sensation could be for you. I know that it is most certainly for me since I used to watch Regular Show when I was a teenager and I will miss the fourth generation of the My Little Pony franchise dearly after the official establishment of the fifth generation [26] [27]. Who would have thought Mordecai from Regular Show and Twilight Sparkle from My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic would once again be a remarkable crossover pairing, in spite of Regular Show ending back in 2017 and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic ending in 2019 [12] [22]? The very moment of them yearning to be together that originated on DeviantArt back in 2012 has regained relevance and won the hearts of so many fans of Western animation [6]. You must be wondering what the artist will think of their old artwork suddenly becoming a trend nine years later. If I was the artist, I would be bewildered, but flattered and honoured. Without further ado, let us see why a blue jay and a magical unicorn could really use a wish from an aeroplane that is like a shooting star [24].

As a pegasister, I will always remember the outstanding impact Friendship Is Magic had on the 2010s in terms of internet culture. [10]

MordeTwi has my nomination for “Best Love Story Of 2021”. Well, at least in terms of the revival of a pairing that started about a decade ago trending [6]. Allow me to explain why. [19]

The apprentice of Princess Celestia fell in love with a bird who works at a park at some point before she earned wings and became an alicorn [10] [11]. This truly brings out those familiar vibes of the early 2010s during the rise of the brony and pegasister communities, even though it can be interpreted that she is already an alicorn in her yearning for Mordecai’s love [8]. Furthermore, this is indeed a brand new headcanon worth being infatuated with. In the present, I am hoping for the four-legged bookworm to be happy with her lover since my latest manicure is inspired by her iconic design [23]. Even though she is very hardworking and dedicated to making Princess Celestia proud while Mordecai slacks off with Rigby, his colleague and best friend, which infuriates their boss, the polar opposites can balance one another out since a plus and a minus would attract [20]. This indeed would be quite similar to how Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde were on opposite ends of the law in Zootropolis, but they eventually developed a companionship that resulted in fans of the film shipping them [29]. Moreover, two opposites who yearn to attract in an interspecies relationship is worthy of rooting for [20] [24].

Move over, Edward and Bella [21]! There is a new Twilight saga! [10]

It seems like the dating advice Mordecai received from a bunch of crude, boisterous and non-magical unicorns was useful after all [3]. Although he only spoke poetry with Pops and Rigby in a rap battle [13], I believe that he has the potential to rap passionately in association with how he feels about being separated from Twilight. Hopefully, no amount of censorship for the airing of Regular Show in the United Kingdom during its global run can stop the deep-voiced blue jay from seeing his sweet purple unicorn again on the internet in 2021 [17] [20]. Besides, she is probably the only unicorn in cartoon history he does not loathe as she is nothing like that flock of sleazy unicorns [20]. I knew he would feel the same way about her as he is also well-educated, despite confusion on whether he earned a high school diploma or not and a little more mature and responsible than Rigby [15], which would mean that how he and Twilight Sparkle are polar opposites at least consist of some similarities to make their love for one another even more understandable. Apart from Shrek and Shadow the Hedgehog [7], no crossover pairing has become as iconic as Mordecai and Twilight Sparkle [6].

Since Mordecai had always wanted to date a girl named “The Power” [18], could that be a nickname for Twilight Sparkle that will bring them even closer? [14]

The two forbidden lovers are seen sitting in what looks like a green field that is perhaps beyond Equestria and the Park managed by Benson and Skips [16]. It is set at night, meaning that they must pretend that an aeroplane would be a shooting star for granting a specific wish [6]. Presumably, Mordecai is sat all alone, separated from his darling Twilight as the two of them are shedding tears. It can be argued that the two lovers are sat together at the same spot but facing away from each other, which could be a sign of them having to have been separated against their will. You can tell they never wanted to be apart by how they are crying simultaneously, which makes the scenario more likely to feature them sitting far away from each other. But wait! What if Mordecai is imagining that he and Twilight are sitting next to each other back-to-back and that she is imagining the same thing? Even though they are apparently unable to find each other with broken hearts, there is hope that they will be repaired, as good as new as a recently sent text message with a purple heart emoji and a blue heart emoji.

As previously stated, I would be honoured to have spawned a meme if I was the artist of this artwork. [6]

The song “Airplanes” by B.o.B. and Hayley Williams, the lead singer of Paramore is perfect for the moment Mordecai and Twilight Sparkle long to reunite [1]. Apparently separated, they are so desperate to be together that they have no choice but to imagine that a plane is a shooting star so that they can make a wish [6]. And that wish is for them to be happily reunited. The fact that the song was released in 2010 is another part of the early 2010s theme around the rather ironic crossover pairing [1]. As previously mentioned, Mordecai would do the rapping verses after singing the next line of the first chorus after Twilight sings the first one. I can already imagine a cover of the song performed by J.G. Quintel and Tara Strong being uploaded onto YouTube and over a million views of its music video in honour of the tragic love story of a blue jay and a unicorn wanting to reunite. Surely, a cover of “Airplanes Pt II” would feature Rigby singing and rapping in Eminem’s role [2], but perhaps that will be saved for some time in 2022.

Surely, Twilight can alternatively pretend that a white pegasus or alicorn flying is like a shooting star. [10]

I can see that deep down, Mordecai could use another wish to prevent him and his beloved unicorn from ever being separated again. [5]

In conclusion, I am rooting for Mordecai from Regular Show and Twilight Sparkle from My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic to be together without being judged for it after they pretend that aeroplanes soaring through the twinkly night sky are exactly like dazzling shooting stars [24]. The whole scenario is quite like the premise of Your Name, which is about two young people who are unsure if they really know each other but are determined to meet each other nonetheless [28]. As much as I am looking forward to the overall outcome of the fifth generation of the My Little Pony franchise, I believe it would have been satisfying to see the uncensored version of Regular Show air on Adult Swim [25], which would be the eventual release of “Rude Removal”, a lost episode of Dexter’s Laboratory back in 2013 all over again [4]. Move over back into the portal to Hell, Moxxie and Millie from Helluva Boss [9]! There might be a wedding for the average bluejay and brainy unicorn in about late 2021 after a heart-breaking separation that resulted in wishing upon aeroplanes as if they were stars. When are they going to meet after they express their despair from their separation? Who knows?

I strongly believe that the passengers on said aeroplane would root for Mordecai and Twilight Sparkle to be together too. [10]

Please make the wish come true! Again, this is without a doubt the best love story of 2021! [14]
