Alfred Alfer, The Crazy Canine Who Ruled The Internet

Disclaimer: This is an article that will discuss a series of animation that contains explicit and disturbing adult content, including necrophilia, graphic nudity, gore, violence, and self-mutilation. Reader discretion is advised.

Alfred Alfer is a mentally unstable cartoon dog created by a talented woman named Emily Rose Youcis, otherwise known as “one badass bitch” according to the official Alfred Alfer film trailer [16]. Throughout the years of Newgrounds and YouTube, he has been known to:
  • Hang around at his playhouse [10] [11] [12].
  • Have frequent sexual encounters [19] [20].
  • Prefer tacos over hamburgers [19] [20].
  • Spoof the crucifixion of Jesus Christ [16].
  • Occasionally wear feminine clothing [9] [21].
  • Plug himself into the internet as if he was part of a crazy experiment [16].
Since 2018 is a year of the dog, the crazy canine who made unconditional love to the dead and was taken to a heavenly nebula by Donald Trump might as well receive a little shout-out as we take a look at the brief history of his legacy and what made him gain a cult following across the internet [16] [22].

Remember the disclaimer, ladies and gentlemen. Reader discretion is DEFINITELY advised. [15] [16]
In October 2005, a few cartoon dogs starred in a whacky music video on Newgrounds [17]. Two of the dogs in their own Christmas cartoon back in the day were officially named “Alfred Alfer” and “Fatdog” [7]. In the mid-2010s, the art style for Youcis’ animations has gradually improved with remarkable shading and lighting, along with the outlines being much smoother [13] [14] [16] [18] [22]. The animation has also evolved as it became more fluid, compared to the occasional choppiness in the earlier Alfred Alfer cartoons. Despite the audio of the Alfred cartoons from the mid-2010s having better quality than the audio of the earlier Alfred cartoons, an example of highly unpleasant audio would be the time when Alfred has a drink to try and get over his loneliness, then refrains from committing suicide as he notices a ghastly, yet provocative stripper in Dead Girl Strip Club [14]. However, the disturbing unpleasantness of the audio suits the terrifying nature of the strip club. Alfred’s whereabouts after the final moments of The Ascent of Alfred are currently unknown. Perhaps he is still taking a break after the sensations of being attached to a computer like a hard drive [22].

We have seen Alfred within a lot of bizarre imagery and crude content that make South Park look like the cartoons based on Strawberry Shortcake. It is assuming how even a woman giving birth stops and roots for Alfer’s freedom in Alfred Gets Fixed [8], but the later videos of him on Youcis’ Newgrounds page take adult content to a whole new level of vulgarity. Examples of the obscene insanity include:
  • Alfred disrespecting an elderly woman’s funeral by having sex with her corpse [15] [16].
  • A nutty orgy that occurs all over Alfred’s body…twice [11] [18].
  • Alfred gleefully cutting himself while he sings “I Remember You” [22].
  • Background characters doing a...certain salute [18] [19] [20].
  • The grim reaper gaining personal gratification at the ghastly strip club [14].
  • The fatality of Mr. Pickles from his own cartoon that aired on Adult Swim [1] [13].
Aside from the whacky and explicit content, it would be highly recommended to tell computer users and adult animation fans with photosensitive epilepsy to only watch parts of each cartoon that do not contain flashing colours and lighting effects [14] [22]. It is quite empowering how a good-looking young woman like Emily Youcis has animated such vile and grotesque content in disturbing settings, despite some unfortunate and heart-breaking exposure [5] [23].

Should I censor this? Or is the skull already doing the censorship for us? [15]
Youcis stated that he has Dissociative Identity Disorder, also known as Multiple Personality Disorder in the description of Rise of Alfred back in late 2007 [19]. An example of his diagnosis could be how a version of himself in a sophisticated dictator uniform would tell him how he cannot handle reality [19] [20]. The version of Alfred in the uniform is known as “Dictator Alfred” and he tends to be a confronting towards him at times [9] [19] [20], possibly representing how the mentally fragile hound might have developed some thoughts of self-discipline from his loneliness. Another sign of Alfer’s multiple personality disorder could be how he switches from a lonely mongrel who almost shot himself in the head to a menacing necrophile who especially loves the cold corpses in G.G. Alfred [15]. Some “responsible” parents Alfred’s mother and father turned out to be during his puppy years. It is no wonder Alfred is mentally unwell and prone to shock value, which is quite a shame, considering how he seemed quite rational and sane in his Christmas special with his old ally Fatdog before Youcis expanded on his character development [7].

Dictator Alfred is not only a hallucination, but he describes himself as "Alfred's Other Personality". Perhaps we all have a dictator self at some point in our lives... [12]
A bigger shame is how Labby from the infamous animated short compilation, Where The Dead Go To Die ditches Alfred by leading him to “a big surprise” and leaving him all alone in a cornfield in his gaudy car [9]. Alfred’s heartbreak from being abandoned by his special friend is at least a legitimate reason for the audience to somehow support him, in spite of how he may have been too clingy and needy towards Labby [9]. The way Labby, even as a possible hallucination in Return To The Playhouse treats Alfred rather poorly seems to get worse when he orders him to take the body he took with him to the basement and threatens him with an ice lolly [18]. After all, Labby is the same mutt who did a terrible job at being “God’s Messenger” in Tainted Milk [2] [3]. Speaking of Where The Dead Go To Die, did you know that Alfred even made a small cameo in The Masks That The Monsters Wear, performing a speech for a public service announcement on TV [2] [3]?

All dogs go to Heaven? I don't think so... [18]

Alfred may have had a terrible past, but at least he can sing [13] [21]. Even though Youcis’ natural voice is too feminine for Alfred, who is a male, her ability to sing is absolutely undeniable [4] [6] [21]. Youcis’ talent in singing, which has evolved from the introduction of the Alfred’s Playhouse trilogy is an even better reason to somewhat root for her sweet Alfred [6] [10]. She even sang amazingly with “The Spelunker” during an interview on Scrapple TV back in Summer 2015 [6]. If Alfred ought to have a new male voice actor, there would be hope that the voice actor would be able to sing as wonderfully as Youcis can. Nevertheless, those who are both gifted in animating AND singing are quite a rarity in this world. Youcis’ moment of singing her heart out as the “pistachios girl” in late 2016 was another crowning moment of her glory [4]. Regardless of how Youcis seems to no longer be a peanut vendour [4] [5], perhaps Alfer could become a pistachios pooch who would serenade a bunch of corpses in the seats of a baseball stadium? Does anyone else remember lyrics of the song about worshipping Alfred that he himself persuaded us to sing back in 2007 [19]?

It would be awesome if Youcis were to spoof Opposites Attract by Paula Abdul and MC Skat Kat with her sweet Alfred someday. [13]
PISTACHIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-! [4]
In conclusion, we are wondering and yet to find out what Alfred Alfer could be up to in the future of Youcis’ ambitions in her own animations. Even though Youcis lost a fraction of respect due to questionable views on Twitter in late 2016 [5], it might be best to not confront her about them this year. We could still at least appreciate the diligence and dedication she put into the legacy of her crazy canine, along with her ability to sing [4] [6] [21]. As content creators remain proactive and set up new standards to evolve even further, she could still maintain a lot of respect for creating some of the edgiest and most revolting animations on the internet. So what will be next for Alfred Alfer in the future? Could Alfred have an official love interest after his departure from Labby? Could he suddenly have an offspring? It will be all up to Youcis once we hear about her getting back into animating her crazy canine for good old time’s sake. But for now, the best we can do is kiss Alfred’s wounds when he gets hurt and give him lollipops when he starts to bawl [19] [20].

A screenshot of a new cartoon animated by Youcis known as “Waking Up” from 2017 that introduces a whole new IP, featuring two other voice actors. And no. I do not recommend it. Perhaps Youcis was aiming to focus on more than just her sweet Alfred at the time she was animating it. [23]
