If you are looking
forward to the official sequel of the highest-grossing animated film of all
time [4] [10] [11], then you ought to be quite amazed at what the official
teaser trailer has to offer [3] [15], like how Elsa the Snow Queen can offer
some creative aspects with her ice powers [4] [5] [8] [10]. Back in my college
years, I adored the first Frozen film to chunks of ice. I completely
sympathized with Elsa and could relate to her struggle with controlling her ice
powers and isolation [4]. It is no wonder my partner says that I am his ice
queen. A promotional image for the upcoming sequel may have been accidentally
leaked two months ago [11] [13], but that sure did not stop Disney from
defrosting the teaser trailer. Without further ado, let us analyse what has
been revealed in the teaser.

Some new
character development awaits the independent and powerful Queen of Arendelle
[3] [11] [15]. We get to see Elsa on a dark and gloomy shingle beach during a storm.
I like her new icy outfit, even when she takes off the jacket and boots. I can
tell by the way she styles her plait into a pony tail and charges across the
sand and ocean like how she did as an insecure and ashamed new ruler in the
first Frozen film that she will be a tougher and more determined snow queen in
Frozen 2 [4] [3] [15]. She can be seen in another scene with Olaf hiding behind
her leg as she tries to take down some purple flames [3] [15]. I guess the
fire’s pretty colour and how it is all shaped into a heart around the snow
queen and the snowman who likes warm hugs does not excuse its danger. With new
dangers to face and a whole new outfit for expressing a likely expansion on her
development, it seems like Elsa will be trying to take her abilities to the
next level after finally being able to handle her powers without accidentally
harming the innocent.

Look out haters! There’s a new Elsa on the island! [11] |

I thought this was meant to be “Frozen II”, not “Flaming Hot II”!! [3] [15] |
As for Anna,
Elsa’s sister, could she receive some extra development as well [3] [15]? She
will at some point witness a series of beautiful diamond-shaped crystals that
somehow reminds me of the crystals from Frozen Free Fall, a mobile game that
immerses in the Candy Crush Saga clique [12]. Perhaps the crystals outside the
castle could be a sign of a whole new prophecy or something. In another hinted
scene, she is seen sitting by a huge part of a cliff looking rather sad [3]
[15]. Her mood reminds me of when she sat like that by Elsa’s bedroom door
after attending her parents’ funeral in the first Frozen film [4] [10], so I am
suspecting that the sisters will be separated again in Frozen 2 [3] [15]. I
suppose the younger sister could become experienced in battling foes with
Kristoff’s new sword by the way she strikes with one at the end of the trailer
[3] [15], which is a sign that a princess shall once again be empowered in the
twenty-first century. Can Anna and Kristoff keep their love for each other
blooming in the final outcome?

A new prophecy awaits?! [3] [15] |

Do you wanna find your sister again? [11] |
Perhaps
plenty of us are hoping for some new quirky moments from Sven and Kristoff
after Olaf discovered that he has always been a Christmas tradition in his own
adventure back in late 2017 [8]. In another scene of the Frozen 2 teaser, we
witness the noble blonde bloke riding the lovable reindeer with dog instincts as
many other moose follow them [3] [15]. It would be interesting to be Sven
playfully interact with a few other moose that will lead to some humourous
moments. I do not think I would be too surprised if the new female character in
beige winter attire owned one of the new moose as her own Sven due to how
similar the style of her attire is to the style of Kristoff’s [3] [15]. Remember
the good old days when we first saw the teaser for the first Frozen film that
featured Sven supposedly competing against Olaf for his nose [14]? Good times.

CHAAAAAAAAARGE!! [3] [15] |
We are yet
to find out more about the two new characters that are briefly shown in one
scene [3] [15]. The music sounds like part of the sound track for Moana, but I doubt
that the hinted new character is actually that film’s starlet with the same
name, despite having a hair style and a face that are slightly similar to
Moana’s. As for the person with blonde hair who gets blown out of the ground by
a gush of wind, could it be a sign that there is another misunderstood
individual who is unable to control their powers [7]? Maybe that individual could
have the power to control wind in the final outcome, but it will often backfire
and send him flying around. In addition to this, the person could be a
potential love interest for Elsa, but as long as they will not break the virtue
of refraining from marrying someone they just met [4] [10]. I would not mind
some new characters in the sequel, especially if one of them will be Elsa’s
realistic love interest.
|
Who is that Moana-looking gal? [3] [15] |
It looks
like the location that the main cast gets a good view of will be heavily
autumn-themed due to the huge amount of the red and orange leaves in the trees
and on the ground [3] [15]. As we all know, autumn does come before winter, so
I suppose that Frozen 2 will take place about one, two or three months after
the first Frozen film [4] [10]. Even though mainly setting the first Frozen
film in a cold winter environment perfectly matches the title of the franchise
[4] [10], I suppose setting the sequel in the chilly autumn would not
completely contradict the title. Autumn can be almost as cold as winter.
Brrrrr. Is anyone up for a parody of Olaf’s song about summer that is about
autumn [4]?

This, my friends, is our new chapter. [3] [15] |
The art
style and animation so far appears to consist of the same beauty of the first
Frozen film [3] [4] [10] [15]. Every aspect of a fearful storm on the shingle
beach appears to be realistic as the moments when Elsa tries to master her ice powers across the ocean kind of remind me Lara Croft trying to reach the other part
of the wrecked ship in the E3 trailer Tomb Raider reboot [6]. Other details
within the art style and animation in the teaser include:
- Hints of a light blue aura from Elsa’s feet
- Faint beams of sunlight shining on the army of moose
- The fog around the large parts of a cliff Anna climbs and
jumps on
- The human characters’ hair and long parts of their attire
flowing gracefully in the breeze.
The sequel
can guarantee a series of excellently rendered models with beautifully
outstanding detail, including the same appealingly designed characters in new
outfits and aspects of nature that flow fantastically by the power of big bucks.

Once again, the animators manage to display Elsa’s ice fantastically. [3] [5] |
After analysing
the official teaser trailer for Frozen 2, I believe that the royal sisters
might be suddenly separated after seeing a land of autumn leaves beyond their
palace [3] [11] [15]. I am not here to spoil, but I am here to analyse and hope
for a great outcome. Plenty of Disney sequels and midquels have not been
critically acclaimed throughout the 90’s and 2000’s [1] [9] [17], but we can
hope that Frozen 2 and Toy Story 4 will be two of those follow-ups that can be
seen as sequels done right in mid and late 2019 [1] [2] [3]. After all, I
completely understand that not all chronological sequels and other follow-ups of
successful Disney films have been considered to be as bad as others, depending
on the views on other Disney fans and critics [1] [9] [16]. Will there be an
explanation for Elsa’s ice powers? Will Anna enable a new strength she probably
never felt before? Could Elsa have a new love interest who is a female as a
sign that Disney is finally allowing same-sex romance to happen [7]? Will Hans
seek revenge? With enough great thought put into it and satisfying answers for
many questions, the next chapter could be worth melting for.
